Our Mission
Our Vision
To create and maintain a thriving network of Orthodox Christian
mental health professionals, and to provide assistance to those in need by subsidizing mental health care for those seen within our network as needed
About Us

Problem 1: Accessibility & Affordability Barriers
Access to affordable and timely mental health care is a right, not a privilege. It should not be dependent on a person's insurance company, immigration status, financial ability, social privilege, racial identity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or any other factor.
Therapy is Too Expensive

More than 60% of people do not receive the care they need when they need it; over 1/3 said the reason why was because it was cost-prohibitive.
Worsening Mental Health in Youth
In the last few years, the rates of serious psychological distress in adolescents, teens, and young adults has more than doubled.
People of color, in underserved communities, with marginalized identities, and families living below 200% of the federal poverty limit are most impacted by mental health concerns.
Inequity in Risk Factors
Problem 2: Hesitation Within Religious Communities
While we exclusively contract with Orthodox Christian therapists, everyone, regardless of religious background or any other part of their identity, is welcome and encouraged to seek services with us. Please read through our FAQs or reach out if you have questions!
We know that spiritual direction and confession are spiritually and psychologically beneficial, and deeply healing. But they don't treat serious mental health conditions.
Hesitation to Ask for Support

It can be hard to talk openly about topics like addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, pornography, concerns around sexuality, trauma, and more.

Sign of Spiritual Deficiency?
Some struggle with shame, or have been told the answer to their struggles is to pray more, go to confession, or attend Liturgy (or Mass or church or services) more often.
Many want to know that a therapist will give them solid guidance, understand the importance of their values, and ensure that therapy does not conflict with their faith.
Desire to Be Understood
The Solution: Agape Wellness Collective
Agape was founded by a licensed therapist and her husband, both Orthodox Christians. After years of sitting with people in their pains, sorrows, and joys, and hearing and holding their stories filled with traumas, triumphs, and trials, we've have heard a number of themes emerge of what holds people back from getting the help they need.
We want to offer a solution. We want to be the change we need to see in the world.
Pay-What-You-Can Model

We are phasing in Pay-What-You-Can as we fundraise. Our goal is to have no one turned away for financial reasons, and to stay financially sustainable for our contracted therapists.

Orthodox Christian Providers
Our therapists not only understand your faith, but share it and live it. They have a remarkable capacity for nuance, living the faith while caring for the complexity of the human condition.
We aim to be a trusted resource for our communities, and for the Orthodox community in particular. We want you to know you're in good hands with any of our providers.
